"The night sky has been the guiding light for our Pacific Island people since time began. They sailed their canoes from island to island using the stars, sun and moon. We sail our canoes in this modern day to honour their achievements. The Rapanui Planetarium helps us tell the stories of their intelligence and bravery. I pay tribute to Edmundo Edwards and his daughter Alexandra, who for some years as anthropologists have delved into the mysteries of the Polynesian people. This planetarium is a highlight for Rapa Nui—her people and guests—as it will open their eyes to the heavens to understand the past and future..."
