Awim and the

Hands of Time

Running Time: 45 minutes

From the very dawn of humankind, as clusters of people spread across the continents, they left markings at their wake: hand imprints, the oldest form of rock art in the world. When a team of scientists from remote Easter Island learned that this custom was still practiced by the Awim people in the virtually unexplored upper Karawari region of the Sepik River, they set forth to learn the true meaning of this ancient practice, exploring the life and culture of the local people, discovering and investigating the archaeological and cultural richness of the area.  This film is the account of their expedition.
